The i-Palace world is a shared resource of online documents for faculty and students at the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Indiana University (IU). It will be seeded with about 8,000 links to online documents (text, images, video, software demonstrations, etc.). The links will be collected from personal favorites or bookmark lists. About 300 people will have access to this space although we expect less than 20 to be logged on at any point in time.

The Twin World Approach
iPalace and iGarden are ‘twin worlds’ utilized to design and evaluate 3-D collaborative information visualizations. We believe that the application of information visualization techniques can

• Assist users in making sense of a 3-D virtual world, its information resources, and collaboration possibilities.
• Aid designers with the organization and layout of world content and the selection of interaction possibilities, as well as the evaluation and optimization of 3-D virtual worlds.
• Enable researchers to study virtual worlds and their evolving communities.
